Business Challenges

Crescent Foundry faced several challenges in generating insights from their data.

They wanted data to help them:

  • Identify the most profitable product lines and customer segments, essential for strategic business growth.
  • Identify the penetration of the order potential for any customer
  • Navigate the fluctuating demand for manhole covers and truck counterweights, which required agile production planning and inventory management.
  • Ensure optimal utilization of resources and minimizing waste, critical in a resource Intensive industry like foundry.
  • Get a holistic view of their end-to-end business operations from potential, order, production, shipment, quality, and claims.
  • Inform their customers about the order and shipment status, reducing the need for multiple email follow-ups.

Data was spread across different systems and there was a lot of manual intervention to get any ad-hoc analysis. Insight generation process required technical expertise which created bottleneck in data adoption. These challenges required Crescent Foundry to have a sophisticated and flexible approach to managing its data, ensuring efficiency and competitiveness in a rapidly evolving industry.

How INSIA was Implemented

We meticulously strategized INSIA implementation to ensure seamless integration and immediate utility for the client.

Their data was predominantly stored in SAP Business One, MS SQL, and various Excel spreadsheets. Business users relied extensively on data analysts for information, with the majority of analyses being conducted on a monthly basis. Initially, the team undertook the task of replicating each existing MS SQL query. This step was crucial to provide the business comprehensive access to most of the required reports from day one of INSIA's activation, ensuring no disruption in their regular data analysis and reporting processes.

Focused discussions were held with the CEO and the leadership team to align the platform's capabilities with the client's specific needs. The designed dashboard provided a holistic view of the business, covering key aspects such as customer potential, order tracking, shipment logistics, manufacturing efficiency, quality control measures, and claims management.

In parallel, the team worked closely with the client to understand the nuances of their data management requirements, including different load frequencies and types for data extraction. The approach to data ingestion was comprehensive, utilizing a mix of SQL queries, procedures, and date column pull requests to ensure accuracy and efficiency.

The project was executed in a phased approach, demonstrating remarkable efficiency and focus. The first dashboard was up for User Acceptance Testing (UAT) in less than a week from the provisioning of data access. This swift and effective implementation underscored the team's commitment to delivering a robust, tailored solution that met the client's unique business needs.
